Apprenticeship in Team Leading
Team Leaders need to be able to communicate with and motivate their teams while ensuring the workload is delegated and monitored. Oh, and do their day-to-day tasks too. Not much to ask hey? This Apprenticeship develops the competence of those working as team leaders to enable them to juggle all they need to do and lead their teams effectively.
What are Apprenticeships?
Apprenticeships have been designed to provide opportunities for people to develop a mix of practical and technical skills that support roles in an area of work. This programme covers a wide variety of roles in the Team Leading sector.
An Apprenticeship is a great way to earn and learn, and for employers to discover skilled and talented employees.
Example Job Roles as an Apprentice:
- Shift/Room/Team/Section leader
- Charge Hand
- Helpdesk manager
- First line manager
- Process Operator
- Care Worker
- Trainee Supervisor
- Team Co-ordinator
- Junior Manager
The way to do an Apprenticeship
Start in a full-time job or a minimum of 30 hours per week with an employer who will allow day release at College if required. The number of release hours will depend on the Apprenticeship.
There are no set entry requirements for the programme, but we have to make sure that the Apprentice has the potential to achieve the different elements that make up the Apprenticeship qualification, and that they are working at the right level in their job role. It is a requirement to complete an initial assessment in English and Maths, and this may lead to taking some additional diagnostic assessments.
Apprentices undertaking the Team Leading Apprenticeship will be working in formal teams or groups, whether as team leaders/coordinators or team members. The apprenticeship is equally suitable for members of self managed teams. They may work in factories, care homes, hotels, construction sites, offices, leisure centres or the armed forces. Wherever people and resources are employed, team leading apprentices could be working.
This Apprenticeship programme will take between 12 months to complete.
There are a number of elements to each Apprenticeship and this is called the framework:
- Combined Competent and Knowledge based element, Level 2 Diploma in Team Leading
- Skills element (Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT) Level 1
- Employers Rights & Responsibilities Workbook
- Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
The Apprentice will compile a portfolio of evidence, which will contain detailed assessment reports from the assessor/tutor.
